This ferry crossing is run by Brittany Ferries, who offer a great choice of crossings to France and Spain.
The crossing takes 6 hours, and the overall distance is about 120 miles or so.
On most days there are 2 crossings from Plymouth to Roscoff. One leaves Plymouth in the early morning, arriving in Roscoff around 6 hours later. The later ferry departs Plymouth late evening, to arrive in Roscoff early the next morning. On the days where there is only one crossing, this usually departs in the afternoon.
You can reserve lounge seats for the crossing, although for an overnight crossing it may be advisable to get a cabin. Cabins can be reasonably inexpensive, especially if there is more than 1 person in your group.
Moving on from Roscoff
Roscoff is in Brittany, which is a wonderful area to explore by car, especially for a family holiday. The sandy beaches of the Atlantic Coast are a beautifully, plus there’s an amazing range of camping opportunities. Further afield you could easily find yourself heading for Bordeaux or the Dordogne.
